Climate Change Impacts on the Sea Front Elevation

December 27th, 2011

Climate change is something that is difficult to avoid and an impact on various aspects of life. Extreme impacts of climate change is primarily the temperature rise and the shift in seasons. The increase in temperature causes the ice and glaciers in the North and South Poles melts. This event caused the expansion of ocean water masses and sea level rise. This will decrease the production of fish and shrimp ponds as well as life threatening coastal communities.

Regional Impacts of Climate Change
Irregular pattern of the season start since 1991, which interfere with the national food self-sufficiency depends on imported food until now. In the dry season tends to dry with the rain increasing trend down one of the impacts of land and forest fires often occur. Increased water lake Lake Toba in particular the more shrinkage and possibly lakes / reservoirs in Indonesia, the concentration of ice on top of Jayawija Papua diminishing returns and the emergence of extreme weather conditions that often, catastrophic flash floods and landslides in several locations in recent years. Several studies of the IPCC 4AR specifically pertaining to Indonesia include: Increased rains in northern and decreased rainfall in the south (equator). Forest fires and land that his chances would be greater with increasing frequency and intensity of El-Nino. Mahakam River Delta into the map of vulnerable coastal areas. (Murdiyarso, 2007).

The impact of climate change on agriculture
It is estimated that agricultural productivity in the tropics will decline if there is an increase in global average temperature between 1-2o C thus increasing the risk of famine. The increased frequency of droughts and floods are expected to give a negative impact on local production, especially in the food supply in subtropical and tropical regions. The occurrence of the changing seasons in which the dry season becomes longer, causing crop failure, water crisis and forest fires. Seasons shift and changes in rainfall patterns, resulting in Indonesia to import rice. In 1991, Indonesia imported $ 600 thousand tons of rice and in 1994 the amount of rice imported over one million tonnes (MOE, 1998). Adaptation can be done by creating or changing the time of seed planting. Regional temperature increase will also give a negative impact on the spread and reproduction of fish. » Read more: Climate Change Impacts on the Sea Front Elevation

Due to Global Warming

December 20th, 2011

Earth’s surface temperature has increased and we must be alert to the consequences that will happen in days to come.

As I’ve written over the fact that global warming is caused by many things, and until recently the dominant factor causing global warming is still debated. But certainly warmer earth 0.5 – 0.6 0C of the average temperature of Earth’s past 100 years.

January 2007 to January warmest along the 100 this year, where the average temperature of January 2007, 0.85 0C higher than the earth’s average temperature in January is 12 0C. And estimated in 2007 this will be the warmest year on record over the last 100 00:54 0C diamana will increase from an annual average temperature of 14 0C. During this fall’s hottest year in 1998 is 0:52 0C warmer than average temperatures yearly. northern hemisphere of Eastern Europe and Russia rise in temperature in January is 4 0C and Canada 2.5 0C of rata2 annual temperature.

The year 2006 itself was the sixth warmest year on record for 100 years, ie up 0:42 0C from an annual average temperature. While the British meteorological office said that 2006 was the hottest year in the UK. 10 warmest years in the 20th century occurred after 1980 and the three warmest years occurred after 1990.

Increased global temperatures have been very worrying. According to a conference on climate change in the UK if global temperatures rise more than 2 0C then some species will become extinct and even ecosystems could be destroyed, famine will occur, especially in developing countries where clean water and will be a very rare item. » Read more: Due to Global Warming

Cause And The Global Climate Change Impacts

December 17th, 2011

As the world health organization, WHO saw so the magnitude of climate change on human health. That’s why the theme of WHO’s initiative in order to commemorate the 60th HKS in 2008.

WHO Representative to Indonesia, Mr. Sharad Adhikary explains why it is so important to have awareness of the issue because the impact has been greatly threaten the health and survival of human beings on this earth.

Basically the Earth is always experiencing climate change from time to time. Only in the past such changes occur naturally while today more climate change caused by human activity that is more rapid and drastic.

THEN WHAT CAUSES CLIMATE CHANGE?
In 2007 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change / IPCC) and Al Gore was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The award was earned for their efforts to develop and disseminate knowledge about climate change caused by human activities as well as about the fundamental effort to follow up the changes that are not natural.

The results ensure that the IPCC assessment of global climate change occurs because the Earth’s atmosphere full of greenhouse gases (GHGs), such as carbon dioxide and methane, produced by humans. Carbon dioxide gas occurs due to the burning of fossil fuels in order to produce energy and also from forest fires. While methane gas caused by waste disposal activities. » Read more: Cause And The Global Climate Change Impacts
